"Masks"
Black Gold and Silver Mask
Deep Aqua, Teal and Silver Mask
Wow, I couldn't wait for this week, as soon as I saw this image from our sponsor The Stamping Boutique, I knew I had to have it.
Back in 1990, when I did my OE one of the countries and cities I went to was Venice in Italy. It was a hot summers evening and on my TO DO LIST was of course be serenaded to in a Gondola by a wonderful Italian pushing this Gondola with a very large pole hoping he wasn't going to fall in the murky water below and not smelling the best. The only thing missing at the time was Mr Right sitting next to me whispering sweet nothings in my ear. Yes I had my Gondola trip which was wonderful but what caught my eye???
No is wasn't a sweet Italian man wanting to pinch my bottom, but that evening down on the water front there was a parade of the MASKS
not only were people wearing these wonderful masks but they were all dressed in traditional costume from 14th to the 18th Centuries, men, women and children. It was wonderful and what a fantastic sight to see, which was very unexpected. There was this amazing array of colours that totally blew me away.
But it was Mystery behind these masks and who were all these people??? Where did they all come from???
The following day I visited some wonderful shops to buy not only some Venetian Glass but also a Mask or two or three. But I had to come to my senses and realised that I still had months of travelling to do and so little space in my luggage. Hence the Mask I did buy was very small but pretty. Now on my BUCKET LIST as I'm getting older I hope to travel back to Venice with my husband and he can whisper sweet nothings and I can buy some musks for a wall in our home. Also he doesn't carry as much luggage as I do, so I'll have room in his bag to pack them.
The next thing on my Bucket List will be to organise or go to a Masquerade Ball..
That is why I couldn't wait to make these cards with this wonderful image. I was so lucky that this weeks sketch worked perfectly with what I wanted to make.
