Mary Ellen's Bio

I have always been a crafter and a stay at home mom that was able to make enough on handmades to help out and still be there for my kids who are all grown now. I have six grandchildren ranging in age from six months up to ten years. I started to draw digis about a year and a half ago. I like to write poetry and have illustrated some of my children's poems.
My digi blog is a place for card makers and others to download free images. I like to tell a little story with most digis and feel that the innocence of children is full of color, imagination and humor and so most of my artwork is a reflection of that. I truly hope that everyone that visits can find something useful and fun.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday Sketch #185-141 Sponsor DigiStamp Boutique

Merry Christmas
from
New Zealand

Only 6 more sleeps to go and I do hope everyone is well on your way with all your preparations.  As it's the start of our summer here in New Zealand I've included a couple of photo's of our New Zealand Christmas Tree it's a Pohutukawa and these trees line our coast lines and beaches.  They have these wonderful red flowers as you can see.  When they fall off these wonderful trees the beaches, roads and pathways are a blanket of red flower needles.  Their leaves are bright green on one side and silver grey on the other.  They also make wonderful shelter when sitting on the beach from the sun.
Here is napkin ring and napkin on my table one Christmas with a piece of fresh Pohutukawa tree and the flower it looked lovely.

I don't have to remind you  that today is Wednesday which means it's
Congratulations to our winner and our top 3 cards lovely work ladies.  This week we have a blast from the past a recycled sketch which we used on 15 February 2012 and believe it or not our sponsor that week was DigiStamp Boutique and this week is DigiStamp Boutique.

Sketch #185-141

This isn't a hard sketch and look awesome when finished.

I have two card this week my mauve and purple card I made for my Design Team card this week.  I was so happy how it turned out that I was asked that same week to make a card for one of our teachers at school that was leaving but I knew she wasn't into mauve or purple as she had taught both of my boys.  I made this second card and the only difference is that they ribbon is under my squares rather than being on top like it should be as per Arlana's sketch.

Here is my card I made in February this year for Sketch #141.  This time round I was determined to make a better card than this one as I hated it after I finished it, I think it was because I used Pink and Brown together.  I was working outside my comfort zone but I still don't like it I prefer brighter colours and I think that shows in my work.

This week our sponsor is the lovely
Sally-Ann Hancock
the owner of
DigiStamp Boutique in the UK.

Good morning everyone and what a wonderful morning it is.  Spring is now here, all our spring flowers are out and my Wisteria over our ponds bridge is in full flower as you can see by my blog header.  I just adore Wisteria and I just wish that it was in flower for longer as you have to wait for so long for those wonderful flowers to appear.
This is the last week that the boys are at home and they're back to school on Sunday night, 3 weeks just flies by but it won't be long before they're on their summer vacation for 7 weeks as they finish school this year on 12th December.

This week Arlana has another blast from the past and we are reusing sketch # 69.

Sketch #175-69

Here is my card using Lady Hat Bow.  When I saw this image I just had to have it I felt that the image would be challenging to colour.   It's such a vintage image and I really wanted to get my colours right to that era.

Sketch #69.
