" Let's Go Fishing "
Good morning everyone, I've woken up this morning to a wonderful sunny day, a little bit brisk this morning but the sky is blue and the sun is shinning.
Well my eldest son Liam turned 13 on Monday now I have a """"TEENAGER""""
on my hands.
It's Sweet Sketch Wednesday today and we have 4 new surprises for you.
Prunus campanulata 'Superba'
We have about 6 of this particular trees at our home and this is one in full bloom and our biggest, as soon as it's in bloom one of our native birds the Tui pictured here below flock to this tree because of the nectar. On Sunday I counted 25 birds in the one tree and the nectar is like a drug to these birds and they get rather tipsy and really funny after over -indulging.
The Tui a Native Bird
Our Feature this week is on Prunus campanulata 'Superba' is commonly known as The Tui Tree, due to the fact that the birds absolutely love the nectar. Tuis are a wonderful addition to a garden - especially for native bird lovers - so planting the species that they can feed on is the way to attract them on site. Countrywide, these wonderful trees are already in bloom, bringing a burst of pinkness to the wintry landscape.
When the Superba is in bloom the Tuis tend to congregate in the trees in large numbers and there is often a lot of squabbling and bickering that goes on as they jockey for position to get the best of the nectar. They tend to over-indulge in the abundance of the sweetness and can get quite tipsy. They stagger around, never quite finishing their songs, losing the plot, hanging drunkenly from one foot, and frequently falling right out of the trees!
Tuis are usually such dignified and somewhat shy birds, preferring privacy to public displays of drunken behaviour. As they fall out of the trees when they are in their cups, they lie about looking a bit embarrassed and much the worse for wear!
These Tui's get rather loud while I'm trying to concentrate typing my blog in the office I look straight out the window at them.
If they were Breathalyzed they would be done for Drunken Flying.
Congratulations to our winner and our top 3 cards this week, great work ladies.

These are both fantastic Kathie and as always your embellishments and detail blow me away! I think I like the one with the fish paper the best, if I have to pick a favorite. Thank you for all of your kind words and congrats and I look forward to having lots more fun helping all of you as much as I can!
Peace & Luv,
Jeannie
Hello Kathie,
I adore these two fisherman card! If I had played along this week...this definitely would have been the image I would have used! Perfect charms, netting and fishy! I loved your story about the birds and seeing your gorgeous trees again. I bet it is hilarious to watch your birds. I love feeding my humming birds and finches, chickadees, etc. However, I have been rather upset with the squirrels this summer as they have chewed up two bird feeders. I had to get squirrel resistant feeders and they still get into one of them. Thank goodness they are both metal feeders now! Have a great weekend. Wish we were going into spring. This was the first morning in a month and a half that I had to put on a sweater.....it didn't last too long but it made me sad!
Hugs, Judi
