Sweet Sketch Wednesday Sketch #173 Sponsor Deidre Mosher Designs Celebrating Women

Celebrating Women
by Deidre Mosher

Good morning everyone, wow it's lovely to have my boys home for 3 weeks as they are on a school break.  So far the weather has been lovely but today they forecast rain so I better get the washing out.

Today is Wednesday and that mean it's
a new week, a new sketch and a new sponsor.

Congratulations to our winner from last week and our top 3 cards, great work ladies it's so lovely to see new image, papers, entrants and embellishments.

This week we have a wonderful new sketch from our very talented Arlana and our sponsor is Deidre Mosher and we are celebrating women.

Sketch #173

Here's my finished card using Big and Beautiful

Deidre Mosher Bio

Wildly Whimsical and Seriously Sassy Art is definitely a trademark of Deidre Mosher.

I have been in the business of art for over 25+ years. Starting out as a fashion illustrator, moving into Art Direction, where I did everything from print to TV...and eventually I found my way back to illustration. My art is just plain fun and my love of color is clearly evident in the designs I create. I'm currently licensed with a variety of companies...my designs are used on craft products, greeting cards/paper products, kitchenware, business products and such.
I am first and foremost an...Illustrator and Designer. I am inspired by seriously sassy & bold colors, but also love the 'wow factor' of classic black and white designs. I'm crazy for stripes and dots, and they are a repeated theme in my work.
As an Illustrator, I work in many mediums and styles, ranging from the line art to pastels...having fun adapting them to the latest project. I am inspired by some my favorite artists ...Matisse's use of bold color, Klimt's knowledge of figures and lavish attention to detail, and Gauguin's wild approach to his subjects. They are all so 'awe inspiring'! I'm happiest when I am in my studio and starting a new project...making a mess, experimenting...and even throwing paint.
Any day in the studio is a great day!

I usually get an idea when I least expect it...so when the 'light bulb' goes off...I sketch and sketch and sketch...(hence the reason I buy tracing paper in bulk). I always begin with a pencil and paper, and it evolves from there. My favorite part of the process?? EVERYTHING...from beginning to end.

Card Ingredients:

1. Base: White SU
2. Coloured Card: Black and Red Kaisercraft card
3. Design Paper: Double sided  paper purchased some years ago no more left.
4. Images: Big and Beautiful by Deidre Mosher
5. Colour Medium: Copics, atyou Copics
6. Pillow or Frame behind Paper Pieced
7. Tools: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities rectangle, scalloped rectangle, pop dots, glue dots, tacky glue.
8. Embellishments:
I have a lot of ladies in emails saying they love my embellishments where do I purchase them from?  A lot of the time I have the ribbons,  laces, treads and roses and this black tulle was used to wrap up a gift which I was given so I didn't throw it out and make my own embellishments just to be a  little bit different.
Black tulle flower cut using 9 cm diameter nestabilities circle.

Black tulle with glitter which I cut my circle out of using the 9cm diameter , I then used a running stitch around the edge and gathered it in to form the flower, which I tired off to hold.  I then used tacky glue to stick the little Red Rose to the centre.

Here is the black and silver lace I originally had, I added the fine red ribbon down the centre and to make it wider I added this red gathered ribbon  by gluing it on with tacky glue.

Red gem from my stash

I then cut the lace up so that I had the flowers either side pf the ribbon holes and added the one layer of red gathered ribbon either side to made it look like garters.
Ooh La La

This photo shows you the lace and ribbons, I had run out of the red ruffed ribbon but had some white to show you.  I originally used the white with this ribbon but it didn't look as good as the red.
